Midnight Coffee and Cake

Often I find myself sleeping during the early hours of the evening, then I am up in the middle of the night. The average person would find this odd, not me. I have always been more nocturnal than the average person. I would generally blame this on working nightshift; I believe it is just my personality. I want to take late afternoon naps and then be wide awake in the middle of the night. I also find myself sometimes sleeping for days.

About 10 plus years ago, one of my jobs was making custom cakes. I found that baking and decorating in the middle of the night was my best work. When I have a large school project, I do my best in the middle of the night. Currently writing my blog, the moon is high in the sky. Even when I am exhausted, I do my best work at night.

When the moon is high in the sky, the house is silent often is the best time. I feel that the silence speaks more to me than the noise of the day. I can shut out the world. I can give in to the quiet entirely. I find that sometimes the daytime is overly stimulating. Bright lights, loud noises, music, and television.

The real question is, how do I find this sense of peace when the sun is up?
